Getting in Touch With Your Character

So I have been working on creating the foundation of my new writing project. I am trying to develop my location, the chapter plots and most importantly, the characters. It's still a work in progress, but it's coming along slowly. I know it's going to take me awhile to get down to the nitty gritty's and make it smooth. But its okay. It takes time to get in touch with your characters and your story.

I am trying to "interview" my main female character. I have thought a lot about her lately. I think she's going to be a reincarnation of how I'd like to see myself. It's kind of crazy, I think of some out of body experiences for her to happen and then I am totally thinking.. no way...she won't do that.

I guess it boils down to, what should I really know about my main character and how much information should I have of her available to aid in writing her parts. I know that Google is my best friend and so Google has been, but what advice do you offer me?

What website or resource do you recommend for that tell all point?

Scribbles!
